Codex theme creators

Codex theme creator guidelines people can trust.

CodexSkin welcomes original themes and rights-cleared collaborations. Every accepted submission must remain data only, readable in real work and explicit about what others may reuse.

01

Own the visual rights

Submit original artwork, public-domain material or assets with a license that permits the proposed distribution. Do not submit celebrity photos, fan art, logos or character art without documented permission.

02

Show real surfaces

Provide Home, Task and Diff previews at desktop size. The design should keep navigation, long-form task text, composer controls and semantic diff colors readable.

03

Keep the package inert

Use the standard six-file package. Submissions containing scripts, executable files, arbitrary CSS, encoded payloads or provider settings are rejected without installation.

04

Choose a plain license

State whether people may use, modify and redistribute the theme. If some components have different terms, list them file by file in LICENSE.txt.

Submission checklist

Send one reviewable folder.

  • Theme name, one-sentence summary and category
  • Author name and public profile link
  • Source and rights statement for every visual asset
  • Home, Task and Diff preview images
  • Builder-exported .dreamskin package
  • Supported platform and tested Codex version

Marketplace policy

Community first, paid marketplace later.

Accepted free themes can receive a permanent detail page and transparent outbound download counts once the public submission system is active. A paid creator marketplace will not open until the audience, rights-review process, refunds and tax handling can support it responsibly.

If a marketplace launches, the intended platform fee is 15–20%, with the creator controlling the list price and license. There is no fee or exclusivity requirement for free gallery submissions.
