A wider product loop

Novelty attracts. Companions retain. Proof gets shared.

Skins, pets and skills can all spread, but they do not belong in one permission bucket. Keeping those boundaries visible is the product.

01 · Visual layer

Skins

Images, crop, dimming, panel opacity and color tokens create the first surprising moment.

Data only. A skin never carries scripts or provider settings.Build a skin
02 · Status layer

Pets

Turn your own dog, cat or original character into nine readable Codex states, then validate the atlas locally.

Image or sprite data. A pet changes appearance, not task behavior.Open the pet maker

Skills

Skills can teach a repeatable workflow and create durable value beyond decoration.

Review separately. Skills can affect behavior and must never hide inside a theme.Open Codex Skills

Build Bug · local progression

It breathes fire only after a real build.

Contrast pass, native export and recipe export unlock separate badges. No prompt-count vanity score, no fake professional rank.

Pet Hatch Playbook

A nine-state production and launch kit for your own pet, a consented portrait or an original character.

  • Nine-state storyboard
  • v1/v2 atlas and QA maps
  • Rights and consent checklist
  • Editable launch captions

The paid ZIPs contain tutorial text and declarative settings only—no celebrity images, executable code, arbitrary CSS, API keys or provider configuration.

Private atlas QA + official link

Inspect all nine actions before you install.

Choose the matching atlas version, validate dimensions, format and transparency locally, then preview each standard action from the real sprite sheet.

Open the complete pet maker

The preview file stays in this browser. Installation needs a separate public HTTPS URL because Codex cannot read a temporary browser blob. v2's 11-row shape follows the current community toolchain; the official upload guide currently documents the v1 dimensions.

Choose a local atlas to run browser-only checks.

Your validated pet will appear here.Reduced-motion mode freezes the first frame. Extra v2 look-direction rows are validated by size but are not represented by these nine standard state tabs.

How Dream Skin really works

Prepare the art online. Run only the engine you reviewed.

The website mirrors the upstream sequence instead of pretending a ZIP can install itself.

01

Choose and frame

Use a wide, rights-cleared image and keep high-detail subjects away from the reading column.

02

Tune real surfaces

Preview Home, Task and Diff while adjusting position, dim, blur, panel opacity and readable colors.

03

Export a reviewable recipe

Build a six-file, data-only archive with hashes. It is an unsigned local recipe—not an executable installer.

04

Install, verify, restore

Use the upstream platform entry, test native controls and practice the documented restore path.

Install and restore

One goal, different platform capabilities.

Download and custom-service content now lives here. The platform cards state what the upstream repository supports today.

No engine

Native appearance

Use Codex Settings for base theme, accent, background, foreground and fonts. Background images are not part of this mode.

  • No CDP session
  • Shareable color theme
  • Stock recovery is immediate
macOS

Dream Skin Studio

The upstream macOS flow validates the official app, installs to a stable user path and supports Finder-based image customization.

  • Install and customize
  • Start, verify and restore
  • PNG, JPEG, HEIC, TIFF, WebP
Windows

Dream Skin scripts

The upstream Windows flow supports install, start, screenshot verification and restore. User-image customization is not yet at macOS parity.

  • Install and start
  • Verify and restore
  • No false one-click recipe claim

Business model

Free ecosystem, paid convenience and craft.

Theme files are easy to copy and the audience is young. Charging for artificial scarcity would hurt growth; charge for outcomes people cannot copy from a ZIP.

A signed cross-platform helper, cloud sync or marketplace should launch only after code signing, recovery testing, rights review, refunds and tax handling are real—not as a promise sold early.

Privacy by construction

Your image does not need a server round trip.

Upload, decode, palette extraction, preview, WebP encoding, pet validation and badge state happen in your browser. We do not read Codex conversations, projects, API keys or model settings.

Common questions

Know which layer you are trusting.

Does CodexSkin upload my skin or pet image?

No. The current studio and pet validator work locally. A pet install deep link uses an HTTPS image URL that you provide; CodexSkin does not host or fetch that image.

Can the exported recipe install itself?

No. It is an unsigned, ZIP-compatible review artifact. The upstream Dream Skin engine has its own platform install, customization, verification and restore entries.

Are pet levels official Codex levels?

No. Build Bug progression is a local CodexSkin feedback loop tied to successful studio milestones. Its certificate is self-verified and is not an OpenAI, employer or educational credential.

Why keep skills separate from themes?

A skill can change how Codex approaches work, while a skin should only change appearance. Combining them would hide a behavioral permission inside a decorative download.

What is inside the paid downloads?

The $1.99 ZIP covers skin setup, the $4.99 playbook covers nine-state pet production and launch, and the $9.99 pack adds three declarative skin recipes. None includes the fan-made portrait concepts shown in the gallery.
