Codex pet from photo · free local start

Turn your photo into a Codex pet.

Choose your dog, cat, self portrait or a rights-cleared mascot. In about three minutes you can prepare a precise Codex handoff; generation time varies. Return here to inspect all nine states without uploading the private file to CodexSkin.

Codex pet from photo

Prepare a private photo brief. Keep the image on your device.

CodexSkin checks the local file and writes a precise hatch-pet brief. It does not upload or generate the artwork. After Codex opens, attach the same photo there to start creation.

01

Choose one personal photo

Use your own dog, cat, self portrait or a rights-cleared mascot. Clear silhouette beats a busy background.

02

Open a prepared Codex brief

CodexSkin writes the production and QA instructions. Attach the same photo after the local handoff opens.

03

Return with the real package

Load pet.json and the atlas here, inspect nine states, export the clean ZIP and only then share the result.

Three minutes is a realistic time to start—not a promise that nine generated animation rows will finish in three minutes. Generation time and Codex usage vary.

Safe Codex pet package workbench

Inspect the actual package—not just a looping GIF.

Load one ZIP, or select pet.json and its PNG/WebP atlas together. CodexSkin parses only the manifest and referenced sprite, validates the atlas locally, shows the full image and all nine states, then exports a clean two-file ZIP.

From one result to a repeatable channel

Lead with the personal transformation, not a product announcement.

People already understand pets, memories and coding frustration. Show one recognizable before-and-after, explain the honest workflow, then ask what they would make.

01 / Reddit

Tell the build story and ask a real question.

One source-to-result image, one short clip of task states, time and usage notes, plus the limitation that surprised you.

Participate before linking. Repeated product-only posts are spam, not distribution.
02 / Shorts / Reels

Reveal the personal twist in the first two seconds.

Photo → atlas → pet beside a real task. Keep the reveal vertical, captioned and under twenty seconds for the first test.

Use the profile or related-video link where descriptions are not clickable.
03 / X / LinkedIn

Turn the demo into a compact product lesson.

A three-panel visual: reference, nine-state QA, real desktop result. State what is local and what Codex creates.

Ask for one specific reply: dog, cat, self or company mascot.
04 / GitHub / Petdex

Let inspectable files earn durable search links.

Only publish a rights-cleared package with author, license, pet.json, atlas preview and exact install boundary.

Link back to the creation path; never mirror thousands of packages without permission.

A viral view is not activation. Optimize first for photo selections, then Codex handoffs, validated packages and result shares. Purchases come after those steps—not in place of them.

Pick the emotional hook

A personal story travels farther than another mascot directory.

Choose a starting brief. Codex will ask for the missing reference, name and rights before creating anything. The share caption stays editable and never claims the pet was made faster than it was.

Private atlas QA + official link

Inspect all nine actions before you install.

Choose the matching atlas version, validate dimensions, format and transparency locally, then preview each standard action from the real sprite sheet.

The preview file stays in this browser. Installation needs a separate public HTTPS URL because Codex cannot read a temporary browser blob. v2's 11-row shape follows the current community toolchain; the official upload guide currently documents the v1 dimensions.

Choose a local atlas to run browser-only checks.

Your validated pet will appear here.Reduced-motion mode freezes the first frame. Extra v2 look-direction rows are validated by size but are not represented by these nine standard state tabs.

Check current availability and the documented upload contract in the official Codex Pets guide. For install and troubleshooting steps, read the CodexSkin pets guide.

The honest production path

Three clicks can start it. Nine actions still need real review.

The viral post is the doorway, not the manufacturing standard. A pet people keep needs stable identity, readable states and a reversible install.

01

Choose a rights-clear reference

Your own pet or original character is the cleanest route. For a person, get explicit creation and sharing consent.

02

Hatch nine separate actions

Use Codex's bundled pet workflow. Do not stretch one pose across idle, waiting, failed and review.

03

Validate and watch the atlas

Check the exact grid, alpha channel, edges, direction, baseline and state meaning before installing.

04

Host, install and tell the story

Put only the finished image on an HTTPS URL you control, install it, then post the personal before-and-after story.

Permission boundary

A pet is status animation, not a secret agent.

Keep visual data, behavior and business claims in separate boxes. That makes the download inspectable and the marketing believable.

01 / TRUST

Pet package

pet.json plus a transparent sprite atlas. No JavaScript, shell command, API key or model setting.

02 / TRUST

Task behavior

Running, waiting, ready and failed states reflect status. The pet does not change the task or read your conversation.

03 / TRUST

Build level

Any level or certificate is a local CodexSkin feedback mechanic, never an OpenAI or professional credential.

Explore, do not mirror

Use established libraries for discovery. Use CodexSkin for the personal creation funnel.

These independent projects already solve broad browsing well. We link to them instead of copying user artwork, counts or licenses into another stale database.

Pet maker FAQ

The details that prevent a viral demo becoming a support problem.

Can CodexSkin turn one photo into a finished pet by itself?

No. CodexSkin prepares the brief, validates the finished atlas and previews its states. Codex's pet workflow performs creation; visual QA still requires judgment.

Does the local atlas upload to CodexSkin?

No. File decoding, dimension checks, alpha inspection and state preview run in the browser. You provide a separate HTTPS URL only when you choose to install.

Why not copy thousands of pets into this site?

Existing catalogs already do that well. Mirroring would add stale metadata, licensing risk and moderation cost without improving the personal creation journey.

Can I sell a celebrity or anime pet?

A disclaimer does not grant commercial rights. Use original work, your own pet, or assets with explicit permission covering transformation and redistribution.
